but don't really explain how they're spacing them or what can happen when that spacing is off.

They say: "Now double your wefts..."

and keep right on moving like you’re already supposed to know what that means and how to do it.

Maybe they show the sewing machine setup...

but they move through it so quickly that if you've never used one before, you're still sitting there wondering:

"Okay...but where exactly does THAT thread go?"

Sometimes their hand is covering the exact thing you needed to see.

Sometimes a step happens off camera.

And sometimes you watched the entire tutorial...

but you're still left guessing about the little details.

And those little details matter when you're the one sitting at the machine trying to make the wig yourself.

OR MAYBE YOU'VE ALREADY TRIED MAKING WIGS.

And this is where it gets real.

You spend hours working on the wig...

then put it on and realize:

It's too big.
Or too tight.
Or bulky.
Or bumpy.

Maybe your closure isn't sitting or laying where you thought it would.

Maybe you carefully marked your guidelines...and your tracks still ended up sliding away from them.

Maybe everything looked fine at the bottom of the cap...and then you got toward the top and realized your spacing was off.

Now you've still got hair left and nowhere to put it.

Or you used too much too soon and the top of the wig is thick and bulky.

Then there's the sewing machine. You finally get it threaded.

Start sewing. The thread slips out.

You thread it again. Now it's bunching underneath. 

You fix that. Then the track shifts.

And somewhere in the middle of all that you're thinking:

"WHY IS THIS SO HARD?"

That's the part people don't always show.

AND IF YOU WANT TO SELL WIGS?

Those problems hit a little differently when you’re trying to sell the wig.

Because now you're not just thinking:"

I don't like how my wig came out.

"Would I feel comfortable asking somebody to PAY me for this?"

THEN WE'RE GOING TO DEAL WITH FIT.

Because nothing will humble you faster than spending hours making an entire wig...

putting it on...

and realizing:

THIS THING DOES NOT FIT.

Maybe it's huge.

Maybe it's too tight.

Maybe it's bunching in places it shouldn't.

Maybe it looked perfect on the mannequin head...

but fits completely differently on the person it was actually supposed to fit.

That's why measurements and your foundation matter.

I'll show you how I take the measurements I need and prepare the foundation before the construction starts.

Because if you're planning to make wigs for customers, fit is not something you want to discover is wrong after you've already finished the whole wig.

AND THEN THERE'S TRACK PLACEMENT.

This is one of those things that looks simple when you're watching somebody else.

Until it's your turn. You mark your guidelines.

Start sewing.

One track moves a little. Then another.

Your spacing starts changing.

You keep working your way up...

and suddenly you're looking at the hair you still have left thinking:

"WHERE AM I SUPPOSED TO PUT THE REST OF THIS?"

Or you finish the wig and it's bulky because too much hair ended up in the wrong places.

"Just double your wefts." Okay.

But if you've never done that before...

Keep them straight.

Control the machine.

Keep your stitching where it belongs.

And keep all that hair out of the way.

BULKY WIGS DON'T JUST "HAPPEN."

Something in the construction is creating that bulk.

And if you eventually want somebody to pay you for the wig you're making...

that matters.

Your customer may not know why the wig looks bulky.

She just knows it doesn't look the way she expected.

I'll show you what I'm paying attention to during construction and where bulk can become a problem.

Because:

"I MADE IT MYSELF" DOESN'T HAVE TO MEAN "IT LOOKS HOMEMADE."

FIRST, WE'RE CONSTRUCTING THE MIDDLE-PART WIG.

This is where I'm really going to slow things down.

I'm going to walk you through the process closely.

You'll see how I prepare and sew the wefts.

The middle-part wig gives you the construction foundation you're going to need before we move into the next wig.

The side-part wig is a little more advanced.

By this point, you've already watched me: sew the wefts, 

work through the basic construction... and attach the closure.

I'm not going to repeat every beginner step all over again.

This is where I want you to start using what you've already learned.

I'll show you how I approach the side-part construction and the placement needed for the look I'm creating.

But I'm going to expect you to bring the foundation you learned during the middle-part wig with you.

Think of it this way:

THE MIDDLE-PART WIG IS WHERE I TEACH YOU THE PROCESS. THE SIDE-PART WIG IS WHERE YOU START APPLYING IT.

That's how you begin moving from simply following along... to actually understanding what you're doing.

I started making wigs in 2014 for a very simple reason:

I've never made a wig before. Is this course for me?

Yes.

You don't have to make a bunch of bad wigs first before you can learn how to make one correctly.

If you're brand new, I start with the foundation and sewing-machine basics before we get into constructing the wig.

I've already tried making wigs. Is this still for me?

Yes.

Especially if you're dealing with poor fit, bulky construction, track-placement issues, sewing-machine

frustration or you're still trying to understand how all the pieces come together.

Do I need to already know how to sew?

No.

The course includes the sewing-machine basics you'll need specifically for wig construction.

What if I don't own a sewing machine yet?

Do I need a special sewing machine?

No.

What kind of wigs are you teaching?

Will I learn both a middle part and a side part?

Yes, but they're taught differently.

The middle-part wig is your detailed foundational construction.
